Something like That

I got my first two art assignments graded.

I had to draw 100 cubes/rectangles in perspective, and I got a C,  which at my school means a big fat redo, for having a confusing format.

Welcome to college, son.

How to Survive College

Someone stood by the doors of my school yesterday morning and handed these out to everyone. Incredibly fabulous, by the way.

I caught the official Digipen Plague though; it trumps the little cold I had last week.
Absolutely miserable.
I have been completely dependent on soup, water, and cough drops, but hell, I swear this Plague is almost as bad as strep, and it doesn't help when you have to stay up until 2 am to draw over 100 cubes.

Many cough drops later though, I noticed the wrappers had little inspiration pep talks. The picture is horrible, I'm sorry, but it says a series of things like, "Don't give up on yourself", "Take charge and mean it", "Only you can know how much you can do"

Dang, man. Powerful little thing.

Art Dump 9/9/2013

I only drew one thing today, no shame in that.

First Week

After having a full week of classes, I'm sick. Just my luck, right? My friends have all been droning on and on about how unpleasant it'd be to get sick this early on in the year, and I ended up being the first to fall.

Maybe I'm not even sick though! Maybe it's just allergies! How am I supposed to know? Washington's weird. There was fog this morning and I about had a heart attack. I've seen fog maybe twice in my entire life, and I don't think I'm a fan.

But the workload from school isn't too bad; it's intensive, but it's really enjoyable. All of my classes are pretty much geared to fit to my program and the instructors all have loads of industry experience, and it helps tons.

Homework-wise, I have to do things like draw my own grids and learn how to write in a specific font, draw circles until I can freehand them perfectly, visit art museums, analyze films, and blah, blah, blah. It's a lot more exciting than it sounds, I assure you.

and there is nothing more satisfying than hearing all 72 people in your major talk about having the exact same classes and homework. I love small schools.

This week's film was Nosferatu. I felt I should include that, because that was the only picture I could think of throwing on this post.

Art Dump 9/7/13 (nsfw)

Today was for experimenting.

There's a nude under the read more:
I am really glad I chose the school I did; it all feels right, and it all speaks to me on a very personal level.

I don't want to write about my classes just yet, but just so you can get an idea of what comes out of my school, here's its gallery:

Hey there, Seattle. How's it going?

I'm in Washington right now, but I suppose I've been out here for a while now. I moved out two weeks ago, but class only just started this Tuesday.

It's different out here compared to Utah,  but I still enjoy it. It's still a shock to go look out the window only to see:
yeah, wow. Trees. Only trees. I don't know what else I always expect.

Besides that, the rain's manageable, and the overcast isn't even that daunting (yet), and even though everyone complains about the humidity, I honestly have't noticed.

It doesn't feel too different in the city I'm at, but it's still been a cultural shock; I never thought living outside of Utah would do that to me. I walk into the grocery store, and it boggles my mind that they can have two full aisles of just tea and coffee or that there has to be a starbucks kiosk in the middle of every building you go into, even though there's a starbucks next door and across the street with smaller coffee shacks in between.

But hey, I like it here. The people are nicer, the drivers are more aggressive (not sure if this is a good thing yet), and the food tastes fresher. Washington's been good to me so far.
